This quick and easy pan fried grouper recipe works with other fish as well, including red snapper, cod, trigger fish, and perch.
What you need:
- 1 lb grouper fillets
- 1.5 c Italian style bread crumbs
- 1 c flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 T milk
- canola or vegetable oil
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
What you do:
- Fill the bottom of a large skillet or cast iron pan with 1/4 inch oil.
- Heat oil to 350-375 degrees.
- Set up 3 medium sized bowls side by side.
- Place flour, salt and black pepper in the first bowl, milk and egg in the second, and Italian style bread crumbs in the third bowl.
- Dredge grouper fillets in flour, dunk in egg/milk batter, then coat with Italian style bread crumbs.
- Place fish in hot oil and fry for 6-8 minutes, turning fish once halfway through cooking time.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
