Sweet and Sour Bratwurst Casserole

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb uncooked bratwurst
  • 32 oz can or jar sauerkraut rinsed and drained
  • 2 Golden Delicious apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 c beer
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 2 t caraway seed

Instructions
 

  • Slice bratwurst into 1 inch pieces.
  • Place bratwurst in a medium skillet and cook until browned; drain.
  • Place bratwurst and remaining ingredients in a 3.5 quart or larger crock pot and mix.
  • Cook, covered, for 5-7 hours on low.
  • Serve with buttered rye bread or potatoes.
