I was having a conversation with my friend the other day that the Outback Steakhouse Bushman Bread is probably more popular than their steaks, ribs and chicken. The Outback Steakhouse Bushman Bread is so deliciously good.
For those of you who haven’t tried it yet, you must! The Outback Steakhouse Bushman Bread is a dark, slightly sweet bread that is perfect for dipping in soup or having plain with tons of butter.
To make the Outback Steakhouse Bushman Bread recipe you will need the following ingredients:
Dough
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 2/3 cups wheat flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp instant coffee
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
- cornmeal for dusting
In a large bowl, mix together all the flour, the cocoa, sugar, instant coffee and salt. In the center of the bowl add in your warm water, butter, honey and yeast.
Slowly mix all the ingredients together with a spoon so that everything is evenly mixed.
When the mixture becomes dough-like, start kneading the dough with your hands for at least ten minutes until it is very smooth and has a consistent color.
You now want to cover the bowl and set it aside for the next hour to allow the dough to rise.
After an hour, the dough should be about double in size. Divide the mixture into into 8 even portions.
Get a large pan, place a cookie sheet on top and then form the loaves. The bread loaves should be about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide.
Dust the entire surface of the loaves with cornmeal (top and bottom).
Cover the pan or pans and let the dough rise once last time for another hour in a warm place.
Preheat the oven to 350° degrees F and when ready, uncover the dough and bake the bread loaves for 20-25 minutes in the oven.
Your bread should start to brown on top when they are done. Voila! You have Outback Steakhouse Bushman Bread. Serve them warm with soup of choice and/or butter on the side.
If you want to serve your butter whipped, just use an electric mixer to whip your hard butter.
