If there is one thing I love it’s buttermilk biscuits. I love breaking the crispy golden outer shell open and letting the steam escape from the freshly baked biscuit. My favourite biscuits just happen to be from KFC.

You can make this KFC buttermilk biscuit recipe in the comfort of your own home, for a fraction of the price in less than an hour.

You will need the following ingredients for your KFC buttermilk biscuit recipe:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 6 tablespoons of lard

First you want to sift all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Next use a pasty cutter to cut the lard until you reach a coarse texture. Add the buttermilk into the large bowl and knead with you hands.

Make sure your buttermilk biscuit dough is a nice soft texture and not sticky. if the mixture is sticky, add a bit more flour until it gets soft. Continue to knead for about 2 minutes and then wrap the dough in wax paper and put in the fridge for half an hour.

Next preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Take the dough from out of the fridge and work it on a floured surface until it is 1/2 an inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter to create your desired shape or ball the dough into your desired shape.

Place the buttermilk biscuits onto a nonstick baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown.

Serve your KFC buttermilk biscuits warm with piping hot fried chicken, gravy, mash potatoes, corn and coleslaw.
