What you need:
- 3/4 lb shrimp, deveined and unshelled
- 1/2 c green pepper, chopped
- 1/2 c onion, chopped
- 1/2 c celery, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 141/2 oz can tomatoes
- 2 t cornstarch
- 3 T olive oil
- 1 t salt
- 1/8 t black pepper
- 1 t chili powder
- 1/4 t cayenne/red pepper sauce
- 1 T Worcestershire sauce
- 2 c cooked rice
What you do:
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Add onion, garlic, celery and green
pepper and cook until slightly tender. Add salt, pepper, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 40 minutes. In a small bowl, combine 1 T cold water with cornstarch; mix into sauce. Keep simmering, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. Add shrimp and simmer, covered, for 5-6 minutes. Serve over rice.
