Crockpot Appetizer Recipes for Your Next Potluck

Tired of the same old casseroles at potluck lunches and dinners? There are alternatives to the boring that are easy to make and take along. Make your next family get-together or potluck a success with easy crockpot appetizer recipes. For many of us, the slow cooker is a must for taking food to office, church or family gatherings.

With all of the innovations in crock pots, there's no reason to dread the pot luck anymore. There are slow cookers made for staying at home or for traveling, such as the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go slow cooker. You can even snap your ladle right on the top. What's not to love about that?

The following are a couple of great cheesy dip crockpot appetizer recipes to try out:

Chili Cheese Dip

1 lb. ground beef
1 can chili without beans
1 lb. mild Mexican Velveeta cheese, cubed

Brown hamburger; drain and place in slow cooker. Add chili and cheese; cover and cook on low until cheese is melted, about 1 to 1-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally to mix ingredients. Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Broccoli Cheese Dip

2 (10 oz.) boxes of frozen chopped broccoli
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup sour cream
1 lb. regular Velveeta cheese
1 tbsp. garlic salt

Melt cheese in slow cooker on low setting for about an hour and a half to two hours. Cook and drain broccoli. Mix soups, sour cream, broccoli and garlic salt. Mix into melted cheese. Great with crackers or pita chips.
